We know that planning a wedding can be overwhelming. It can be difficult to find the perfect vendors and make sure that you have asked all of the right questions. We are launching a new series featuring some of our favorite questions to ask that you might not be thinking about. Each post in this series will feature a different vendor category and help give you a starting point to make sure you have everything you need for your big day!

Although your wedding day only lasts for 24 hours, your photographs will last you forever and you want to make sure you have the right person that fits your style behind the camera. Below is a list of our favorite questions to help you get to know potential photographers and to help you find the perfect one for you!

Will you personally be taking the photographs or will it be an assistant?
How many photographers are included in your pricing?
How many hours is your pricing for?
How many years of experience have you had? How many weddings have you photographed?
Can we see your portfolio?

Have you worked at our venue(s) before?
Do you have a flat fee or by the hour? Are there packages?
Is a wedding album included in your rates?
Will you stay longer if required? What are your overtime rates?
Do you have backup equipment if something goes wrong?

What is your dress code?
Are there any extra costs (i.e travel)?
On average, how long will it take for proofs? For prints?
Do you release rights to the images? (This may be needed to print digital copies)
Are prints included in your prices or just digital copies?

How many edited digital photographs do we get for the price?
Do you have another job on the day of our wedding?
What are your criteria for choosing what you photograph? Do you work off a shot list?
Do you offer a photo booth option? What’s the cost?
Do you offer a videography Option? What’s the cost?
Do you offer a Zoom option for guests that are unable to attend? What’s the cost?

Hopefully, this list of questions will help to guide you through your showings and help you feel more prepared to select the best photographer to say “I DO” too!
