We know that planning a wedding can be overwhelming. It can be difficult to find the perfect vendors and make sure that you have asked all of the right questions. We are launching a new series featuring some of our favorite questions to ask that you might not be thinking about. Each post in this series will feature a different vendor category and help give you a starting point to make sure you have everything you need for your big day!

With so many things going on, it is easy to forget just how important your officiant is. Not only does your officiant sign your marriage license and make everything official but they also will help you navigate all of the logistics for your ceremony script. Below are some of our favorite questions to ask to help you find the right vendor for you.

Do we have to be a member of your church (If affiliated with a church)?
Are we required to attend premarital counseling? If so, how many sessions?
What is the cost to book?
How far in advance do we need the book?
To what extent can we personalize the content of the ceremony?

What is your policy regarding interfaith marriages (If applicable)?
Do you have ideas and ceremony suggestions to assist us in our preparation?
What would you say is your delivery style (laid back or formal)?
What will you wear to our ceremony?
How many meetings do we need to plan and prepare for our ceremony?

How long before the wedding do you arrive?
Do you offer rehearsal at the ceremony location?
Do you have other commitments on the day of our wedding?
Do you file the marriage license for the couple?
Are you licensed to perform a ceremony in the county/state that my venue is located?

Hopefully, this list of questions will help to guide you through your showings and help you feel more prepared to select the best officiant to say “I DO” to!
